ABR is a diagnostic test that gives information about the inner ear and brain pathways for hearing. ABR is obtained by attaching electrodes to record electrical activity from the hearing nerve and other parts of the brain. The electrodes are placed on the forehead and on each ear lobe or mastoid. The procedure is painless and the patient remains still and quiet while listening to tones. It is a safe and non-invasive test for all ages. The patient is requested to arrive at the appointment with no make-up or lotion on the face or ears.
