VEMP testing is used to assess the function of the utricle and saccule – the otolithic organs of the peripheral system.
There are two types of VEMP testing:
Both tests are painless and the patient remains still and quiet while listening to tones. The patient is asked to arrive at the appointment with no make-up or lotion on the face/neck.
VEMP tests are used in helping with a diagnosis of Superior Canal Dehiscence Syndrome (SCDS). This test also has diagnostic applications in Meniere’s disease and vestibular neuritis.
