Electrocochleography (ECochG)

ECochG is an auditory nerve response which can be recorded through electrodes placed on the forehead and in each ear canal. This test measures responses generated by the inner ear when sound is presented. The procedure is painless and the patient remains still and quiet, with no need to respond to the tones. The patient is requested to arrive at the appointment with no makeup or lotion on the face.

ECochG testing is used to help in the diagnosis of Meniere’s Disease, Auditory Neuropathy and the site-of-lesion investigation in other hearing pathologies.
